We all like to view aesthetically pleasing art work, in reality a child may learn as much, or even more from a piece that in the end looks like a gray mass. It may be difficult to know the process that a child went through to get to their end piece. Your child may have explored color mixing, spatical relations, textual approaches or any number of techniques in the process of art creating.
As an instructor my job is to nurture and encourage the process not determine the end product. I will provide opportunities for growth, experimentation, extending their attention span, self-expression and fun.
Children need the opportunity to experiment, explore and get messy. Each piece of art reflects the style, preferences, compositional choices and the self-expression of each individual child.
Art creating aids in the development of fine motor skills, hand to eye coordination, spatial relations and visual perception.
